It’s funny I was talking about a similar hypocrisy in class
last tonight. I more or less argued that it does not make sense to fight sexism
and racism with reverse sexism and racism.
When people are voting for president based on skin color or
sex that is sexism/racism. But in the 2008 election a lot of people thought it
was about equality, they never correlated their support for Hillary or Obama as
being sexist or racist.
(I am not talking about most people, but I personally know
and have talked to many people that supported those two candidates based off
color and sex and they openly admitted it, again never considering they were
being racists and sexist.)
There is all the difference in the world between
treating people equally and attempting to make them equal.
- Friedrich August Hayek.
When we fail to have equality under the law, we end up with everyone wanting to use the law to push themselves up at the expanse of others. When the rich have the power they exploit the poor and when the plundered class gets the power they in turn wish to do the same.
Equality through revenge? The principles are always the same, people become what they most despise.
