Rebuilding the Washington GOP with Real Results

By Matthew Hayward For the GOP to secure meaningful wins in Washington, it’s time to abandon unwinnable, resource-draining races and focus intensely on swing and local races . We need a disciplined, laser-focused strategy that builds a solid portfolio of victories, proving our capacity to make a difference on the ground. Each local or swing win will solidify our standing, making future fundraising easier as we demonstrate real success and the potential for broader influence. This success must be supported by practical infrastructure. The state party should provide centralized resources, such as a designated printer and sign provider, ensuring no conservative candidate has to waste time or resources on the basics. Every candidate deserves streamlined access to essential campaign tools, removing logistical barriers so they can focus on connecting with voters. Additionally, the party needs to offer strong, professional campaign training—either in-house or through partnerships with top org...

Donkeys Have Been Crying Wolf: The Hysteria Over Project 2025

Written by Matthew Hayward The political landscape is often rife with hyperbole and sensationalism, but the recent uproar over "Project 2025" takes it to a new level. The political left has unleashed a torrent of hysteria, painting the project with apocalyptic tones and dire warnings. This reaction, however, reveals more about their own strategies and insecurities than the project itself. Earlier today, Trump’s campaign cheered the news of internal turmoil within the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025. Despite the left’s attempts to link Trump with this initiative, the former President has consistently denied any association. This move was highlighted by the departure of Project 2025 Director Paul Dans, announced by Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts. Roberts emphasized that Dans’s departure was in line with the project’s timeline and not a result of external pressure. FOX45 News reported the Trump campaign’s enthusiastic response, highlighting their clear disassoc...

Grassroots Revolt Against GOP Elitism

By Matthew Hayward In the complex arena of political strategy, even those who occupy the highest echelons of power can falter, demonstrating a profound disconnect between their strategic intentions and operational execution. The recent failure to secure the endorsement for their preferred candidate, Dave Reichert, is not merely a setback; it is a revealing exposé of the grave strategic missteps at the heart of the Republican party's establishment in Washington State. These seasoned campaigners, these stewards of conservative strategy, have evidently underestimated the critical importance of grassroots engagement. While I acknowledge the logic behind promoting an established politician strategically positioned geographically and perceived as moderate in our swing state—a strategy driven by considerations of electability, which admittedly has its merits—the incessant focus on this argument and complete lack of any meaningful engagement and education has alienated the grassroots yet a...

How the GOP can Win in Washington

If Republicans want to succeed in Washington, they need to start winning. If the Republican party wants to win, they're going to have to start raising money. How do you raise money to win without winning first? You have to have a plan, a plan that is thorough and convincing. The Republican party needs to pick small races around Washington over the next several years and win at least 90% of the races they choose. The path to building a robust political machine and someday possibly a red state is through targeting school boards, library districts, city councils, fire commissioners, county commissioner seats, Etc. The most important thing is to win; races must be chosen based on their winnability. If there were a massive organized effort by professional skilled political consultants, there would be interest from Republicans to donate. I would happily participate actively and financially in a plan like this. In fact, I would go out and continuously fundraise for something like this. I ...

If Chris Christie is the 2016 GOP Choice, Will the Republican Party Cease to Exist?

By Matthew Hayward Why is it that the only people I've heard say they like Chris Christie and think the GOP should consider him and move toward moderates are all Democrat strategists? Am I wrong, or should we believe that Chris Matthews is genuinely trying to aid the Republican Party in becoming competitive again? It's often said, in every campaign school you'll hear it, that you must move to the middle and go after those swing voters. If the Republican Party moves toward the middle of the spectrum, that means moving away from the left toward the right. The Republican Party has long ago moved past the middle toward the left. While I’m not a "Tea Party" person, I respect that those who are understand how far left the Republican Party has gone. Most of my friends on the left believe the Republican Party has never been more to the 'right,' and they think the Democrats have moved too far to the 'right.' But let’s look at right and left in simple te...

Is there Hope in Rand...Rand endorses Mitch McConnell

By Matthew Hayward With respect to the integrity of the purists in the Liberty Movement, we have to pick our battles if we are going to move the ball down the field. After watching Freedom to Fascism, I spoke to my father, who was 30 years senior counsel to the House Republicans in WA State. I asked him about the constitutional legitimacy of the income tax. His response was simple yet powerful, “you may be right, but you can be right all the way to jail. You have to pick your battles; this is a losing battle, and, if pursued, should be rethought tactically.” He suggested that a cost-benefit should be considered and applied to what issues and battles are taken up. That does not mean avoiding fighting battles that cannot be won but weakening the opposition, building public support to provide a distraction, etc.  If Sen. Rand Paul is endorsing Sen. Mitch McConnell for re-election in 2014, will you be able to work with Rand?  I will work with almost anyone who will sta...

'USA' the RNC & fascism

'USA' the RNC & fascism by Matthew Edward Hayward on Sunday, September 2, 2012   While looking forward to traveling to one of my dream destinations, the sunny State of Florida, I learned of Isaac, a hurricane approaching Tampa. Little did I know that Hurricane Isaac was less of a concern than the dark clouds looming over the Republican National Convention. Day 1 of the convention was canceled because of Isaac. Day two quickly ended for the grass roots and any hope of unity after the disenfranchisement of the Maine delegation and authoritarian passage of the new rules. The new rules made it so Ron Paul could not be nominated and consolidated all power to RNC leadership giving them the ability to change the rules to whatever they want, whenever they want. Tyranny reigned supreme as a voice vote was taken, a vote that apparently was nothing more than political theater. As the chair announced the results, there were calls for division (a vote coun...
