'USA' the RNC & fascism

'USA' the RNC & fascism

by Matthew Edward Hayward on Sunday, September 2, 2012

While looking forward to traveling to one of my dream destinations, the sunny State of Florida, I learned of Isaac, a hurricane approaching Tampa. Little did I know that Hurricane Isaac was less of a concern than the dark clouds looming over the Republican National Convention.

Day 1 of the convention was canceled because of Isaac. Day two quickly ended for the grass roots and any hope of unity after the disenfranchisement of the Maine delegation and authoritarian passage of the new rules. The new rules made it so Ron Paul could not be nominated and consolidated all power to RNC leadership giving them the ability to change the rules to whatever they want, whenever they want.

Tyranny reigned supreme as a voice vote was taken, a vote that apparently was nothing more than political theater. As the chair announced the results, there were calls for division (a vote count) and objections were made. Of course division was not part of the script; I mean that not in a euphemistic way but literally. The teleprompter bluntly said; “In the opinion of the chair, the ayes have it, and the resolution is adopted.”

This was the moment of truth; the moment freedom was silenced under the banner of patriotism. Party whips walked up and down the aisles lifting their arms chanting “USA…USA…USA,” in order to drown out the calls for division and objection. The microphones being both blocked in many cases and not turned on also made it difficult to object. Before this moment I would have associated ‘USA’ with a positive feeling accompanied with a sense of patriotism. Unfortunately after this event I, as well as several others feel that the chant ‘USA’ is now tainted and reminiscent of Nazi Germany.

As it became clear the RNC was railroading the delegation, a large faction of the Texas delegation began to chant, ‘Point of Order’…’Point of Order’, This went on for several minutes and fell on deaf  ears. Afterward several prominent conservatives, Rush Limbaugh, Michelle Malkin, Sara Palin, and the former RNC chair Michelle Steel, all came out in opposition to the rules and what happened. CNN’s Wolf Blitzer also commented about it, but in the end history will show only an illusion of party unity.

I know it sounds harsh to make comparisons to Nazi German and use words like fascism to describe what happened, but it is accurate. Certainly Hitler and his party came to power somehow before the increasing tyranny. In part this was done by silencing dissent with the use of patriotism and the people policing themselves.

I once spoke with a German woman who told me while she loves America she refuses to fly the flag. She talked of false patriotism, and blind nationalism and a time and place where flying the flag was not optional. I’m sure she would be the first to agree that chanting ‘USA’ to evoke positive emotional feelings toward our country while simultaneously defying the very principles the country was founded on is a sign of our country slipping into totalitarianism.

Day 3 was spent talking to the press about what happened and trying to decide what to do next. After great debate with representatives from states around the nation a decision was reached.  We decided not to protest, we would not leave, it was decided that we would hold a press conference and explain to the world what happened and send a message to the RNC that we were going to stay to ensure it does not happen again in the future. We will not walk out, we are walking in, we are the future.

Day 4 we gathered outside the convention center and silently walked up to meet the media and then proceeded in to quietly and respectfully listen to the nominee’s speech.

There was a lot more shenanigans than mentioned above, but the important part of this message is; chanting ‘USA’ to silence liberty and the rule of law is not only not patriotic, it is borderline fascist. Please do not let your ignorance turn you into a monster. Do not let fear cause you to be the snuffer of the light of liberty.

"What the Republican National Committee did to Ron Paul was the height of rudeness and stupidity for this reason: Why would you alienate an individual who has the ability to attract a new generation of voters, who are already skeptical of your institution but are willing to at least listen through the vehicle of this individual and the words that he is saying? Why would you alienate them, get on the floor and not let them speak? Not have his name go up on the board and see the number of electoral votes that he receives? This is crazy! ... They are afraid of that which they cannot control." former RNC chair Michael Steele

Grassroots Revolt Against GOP Elitism

By Matthew Hayward In the complex arena of political strategy, even those who occupy the highest echelons of power can falter, demonstrating a profound disconnect between their strategic intentions and operational execution. The recent failure to secure the endorsement for their preferred candidate, Dave Reichert, is not merely a setback; it is a revealing exposé of the grave strategic missteps at the heart of the Republican party's establishment in Washington State. These seasoned campaigners, these stewards of conservative strategy, have evidently underestimated the critical importance of grassroots engagement. While I acknowledge the logic behind promoting an established politician strategically positioned geographically and perceived as moderate in our swing state—a strategy driven by considerations of electability, which admittedly has its merits—the incessant focus on this argument and complete lack of any meaningful engagement and education has alienated the grassroots yet a...

Could Today Be the Cheapest Price for Bitcoin Ever Again? Here’s Why

By: Matthew Hayward Current price  Nov 10, 2024 76.72K 80.43K Is Now the Time to Buy Bitcoin? Bitcoin has come a long way since its early days as a niche digital asset. Today, as we enter another phase in its established four-year cycle , Bitcoin may be at a historic high, but it could soon become the new baseline price. This cycle, which has repeatedly shown Bitcoin’s resilience and long-term growth potential, suggests that the current price might be the lowest we’ll see again. While recent political shifts, including Donald Trump’s landslide election victory, have added new momentum and support for Bitcoin, the timing within the cycle itself makes this an ideal moment to consider buying. A Political Shift: From Anti-Crypto to Pro-Crypto For years, Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies have faced an uphill battle against a U.S. government determined to restrict and control their growth. This opposition was largely led by Gary Gensler, who waged an outright war against crypto from hi...

When the Census Goes Beyond the Constitution

By Matthew Hayward The Census: From Counting People to Collecting Control The Constitution established the census as a straightforward tool for representation—nothing more, nothing less. Article I, Section 2 mandates an enumeration every ten years to determine how many representatives each state is allotted. That’s it. Simple. Effective. Proportional representation was the goal, and the census was designed to achieve it. So how did we end up here—with government agents asking about the number of bathrooms in our homes, our ethnic identities, and everything in between? This is the creeping hand of central planning at work. What began as a tool to empower individual representation has been twisted into a mechanism to empower bureaucrats, planners, and those who believe they know better than free individuals how to run their own lives. Central Planning: The False Promise of Data The justification for prying into the most intimate details of our lives is always the same: “We need the ...
